A) Business and Government Affairs Committee

Committee members work on local, state, and federal advocacy issues.
• Generate new revenue through focused events (“hot button issues” workshops, town hall sessions, annual legislative wrap-up, etc.). Topics can focus on health care, education, etc.
• Explore the creation of our own fl y-in to DC as a partnership of the GMCC fl y-in each year; continue to participate in the Tallahassee fl y-in
• Develop a formal legislative agenda beginning in September 2011 (Federal & State)
• Grow committee participation by 5 members to a core group of 10+ members; liaison with other Committees on their legislative issues
• Host elected offi cials at our monthly meetings as a way to develop a closer relationship with City, County and State leaders
• Plan an annual Good Morning Coral Gables breakfast that focuses on legislative issues
• Look for opportunities to work with our counterpart committees at GMCC, Beacon Council (One Community One Goal) and Chamber South
