Special Events Division

This division is responsible for the planning, fund-raising and implementation of regularly recurring and new Chamber special events.

A) Holiday Party
Iggy Tamayo, University of Miami – Government & Community Relations

The committee’s mission is to successfully organize and promote our local restaurants while providing a festive and relaxed networking opportunity for our members and guests, while collecting gifts for children and seniors in need.

• Attain all sponsor commitments, including Title Sponsorship, no later than November 1st
• Increase attendance to 500 guests
• Acquire the participation of 30 restaurants
• Raise awareness of charity partners to a higher level

B) Golf Classic
Edwin Perkins, Moss & Associates & Danny Diaz, TotalBank


Annually held at The Biltmore Hotel Golf Course, members and guests network with fellow golfers with a dinner following.

• Grow event back to 144 golfers
• Secure date earlier in the Chamber year and ensure no date confl icts with other major tournaments
• Grow the non-golf revenue (silent auction, raffl es, etc.) by 20%
• Invite “celebrities” or local dignitaries; create an exclusive feel for our event
• Begin promotion of the event earlier

C) Baptist Health Tour of the Gables 5K
Gabriel de Armas, Home Instead Senior Care


Drawing over 1,000 participants annually, this is a community event that begins at City Hall with runners traveling through a beautiful scenic tour of Coral Gables.

• Grow the event to 1500 runners
• Explore the possibility of adding a 10K to the existing 5K race
• Secure at least $25,000 in sponsorships
• Partner with Gables Fitness to off er a pre-event Run Club training opportunity
• Use Corporate Run model to get more companies engaged; grow the Chairman’s Cup to at least 25 participating companies representing 250 runners minimum

D) Goals Conference 2012
Darla Thompson, Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, L.L.P.

Annual Conference where our members, committees and Board members meet to set the goals for the Chamber’s next year. Workshops, seminars and networking events are offered to make this an enjoyable, yet productive conference.
